A dollar stock to invest in??? It looks interesting!

October 16, 2008

The company that I would like to shart with the readers is Evolution Solar.  The address is right here below: http://www.evolutionsolar.com/investors.htm  From this page it has a good listing on why you should invest in solar, and the pitch….why Evolution Solar.  Swen66 likes solar, I was playing around and searching on the web, and I accidently found (the above) site.  So please check out this site and learn more about solar power.  I like the concept where you won’t affect the food chain as you would with bio-fuels.

Wood as a power source may be making comeback

October 9, 2008

The push for more power from renewable fuels has renewed interest in one of the oldest energy sources: wood.

While airwaves have been permeated by advertisements for solar and wind power, last year wood generated more net electricity in the U.S. than those two up-and-comers combined.

New wood-burning electricity plants are again being proposed from Massachusetts to New Mexico as the nation finds itself in a third energy shock.

Using wood for electric power generation grew rapidly during the energy crises of the 1970s and 1980s, but fell away when the price of coal and fossil fuels dropped.

$1B Offshore Wind Farm Gets BPU Approval

October 6, 2008

Doesn’t it seem weird that as the US/World financial market is in trouble, along with the price of a barrel of oil below $88, alternative energy seems to be holding its own.

It took several months for the state’s Board of Public Utilities to decide which bidder would build the first wind farm off New Jersey’s coast, and one of the first on the East Coast.

The Bill Passes!……..with much pork

October 4, 2008

With the “bailout” passing the house (remember, it’s not really a bailout), some extra sweetners were added to pick up more “aye” vote.   Lets think about this another way….the house (notice small h) defeated the bill earlier this week, but with an additional 13.5% of the 700B package the house passed this bill.  What were the people in the house thinking?  Just means more debt.  I must commend the Representatives who voted no the first time for the bill and didn’t change their position for the second vote.  KUDOS

Now swen66 viewed an Electric Bicyle Thursday night that was powered by a brushless permanent magnet motor.  ONce written the review will be pasted.

As the Global Market “Tanks”, We Need New Energy!

September 29, 2008

As I turned on CNBC this morning a “quick look” was given on how the markets “across the pond” was reacting to the so called “bailout” for Wall Street.  Later in the morning I tuned in with the expected debate about the bill…I figure the usual posturing for the congressional district.  I wrote a report, went to email such, and I witnessed that the 700B bailout was rejected by the house.  There is much concern that this money will create “golden parachutes” for the big wigs.  From my investigation it tells me that this money in need for the “flow” of credit through our economy.

Once Secretary Paulson announced the 700B “bailout” the credit market froze up.  No one wanted to lend money with this “bailout” coming.  They didn’t want to l be holding the stick.  But really this money is not a bailout, it’s a primer.  This primer will keep the money flowing for a couple of months.

Now the people who have money will not lend or finance anything except buying a Treasury t-bill yielding .4%.  That does not make sense the Swen66?  So what does Swen66 propose?  Well……..:

We need an infrastructure change and stop buying foreign oil.  Our credit and debt is going overseas to China, and to the mean people in the middle east.    The love selling oil at $100 dollars a barrel, and we must love paying it too.

We need to follow T.  Boone Pickens plan of moving towards CNG (natural gas) for transportation.  Just think of all the jobs that would be created by using this “utility”.  We need to conserve the green back, which will also increase our credit.

If Paulsing came up  with a plan, it will make money and the taxpayers will eventually profit.  Remember, its not a bailout for Wall Street.  Yes, I’ll admit a few will see some easy money.  But as a whole, the plan should have passed.

Port of Longview shifts from logs to wind turbines

September 5, 2008

Some smaller ports specialize in grain or coal or seafood. The Port of Longview once specialized in raw log exports but now has shifted to imports of major components for electricity-generating wind farms.

Down and Dirty Facts (i think)

September 4, 2008

Again talking about the Pickens Plan to to stop the reliance on foreign oil.  Let’s look at a couple of factors:

1.  From the infomercial, there is 8 million CNG cars in the world, but only 150,000 in the U.S.

2.  If you purchase a CNG  vehicle, where do you have to go to “TOP OFF”  your tank?

3.  There will be a big infrastructure change across the nation.

4.  Swen66 is a numbers person, a conservative, and a realist,   700 billion a year “flowing” out of our wallets and going overseas does not seem healthy.  As T. Boone says “the greatest transfer of wealth” ever.

5.  Though, this process will change.  The solar, wind, and/or fuel cells renewable energy means are picking up interest.  Something is going to happen….but when?

6.  IN the mean time we need to look at CNG (compressed natural gas) as a means of allowing trasportation until the “Back to the Future” (with the flux capacitor) is invented.

7.  Will try to write more about different alternatives and ease back on T. Boone Pickens.  For more information on his plan go to www.pickensplan.com.

What T.Boone Pickens is Thinking

September 3, 2008

Saw last night 9.2.08 an interview with Mr. Pickens on CNBC.  My thinking is that T.Boone Pickens is the “Oil-Ace” of this decade.  He was saying that oil will stay around $100 a barrel because OPEC likes the money.  If oil starts trading below that make he thinks production will start to “slacken-up”.

Now with this hurricane Gustov, that really threw me for a loop.  I thought will all the workers off the oil rigs in the golf will lesson the supply and gas prices will move higher.  But now I see that prices are declining.  Could we say that there was a premiuem cost socked away in the oil price to handle the next hurricane in the gulf?  T. Boones price was worked for $150 to $100 a barrel.  Hey, he didn’t give a time frame!

Pickens pitches his plan

August 16, 2008

The lack of leadership in Washington, combined with the end of cheap gasoline, has put the United States in an energy situation it must get out of, veteran oilman Boone Pickens said here Wednesday.

Solar Energy Nanoantennas Are Created

August 14, 2008

This information excites Swen66.  A couple of years ago I took an interest in nanotechnology.  Now, they are talking aboutr antennas, I’m a retired Signal Officer, plus using plastic material makes it even more enjoyable.  For investment, into the Nano world, I have bought and sold FEIC for a good profit  (that was a couple years ago….but to stock price is still increasing, still too high for me!).  Thinking “outside of the box” Could this technology be used to “juice-up” electric cars.  Happy reading!

U.S. scientists say they have created flexible plastic sheets containing billions of nanoantenna arrays to collect heat from the sun and other sources.
