Swen has a situation talking about Global Warming that Al Gore documented in “an inconvenient truth” His story was in “the troubling signs” (at the time mark 51:30). He talks about a study that was done in the Netherlands, 25 years ago, where migrating birds would come and lay eggs the 25th of April. The eggs would hatch around the 3rd of June. About the same time the caterpillars would be peaking. Now after 25 years of Global Warming birds eggs now hatch about 2 weeks early, which is before the caterpillars arrived. Thus, the little birds are going hungry…because of Global Warming. Al Gore says there are millions of these relative circumstances (or “niches”).
Well, I’m going to give you another “niche” right now: This fall I’ve been going over to Kenosha with my “personal fishing guide” DW (No, NASCAR fans, it’s not Darryl Waltrip). We have been waiting for the fish to come in from Lake Michigan searching to find cooler water and lays their eggs. This has been going on since I’ve been a youngster (for about 30 years). I still remember an American Motors factory that was in “the harbor”. Since American Motor is nonexistent now, the factory has been torn down there are now nice condominiums in “the harbor”.
A couple times we did witness some brown and rainbow trout being caught, but very few salmon. Usually, you will witness some salmon that have died swimming “up stream”. We didn’t see many this year. DW also had had his Sidefinder fish locator, which gave us poor assurance that fish were in the harbor. Swen kept telling DW, the fish are not there because of Global Warming (Lake Michigan is still warm)! We stopped fishing Lake Michigan the first week in November. Next, it’s ice fishing time!! What will I discover? Maybe I’ll have to wait (to January) for the lakes to completely freeze up?
