Yesterday (12/4/07 at 12:40) I was watching CNBC (or course!) and learned about this Bill that’s in the Senate this afternoon. The whole theme for this bill is to save the planet. Really, it doesn’t look like this Bill will pass over the big “W’s”veto pen. Because the “W” has stated he will sign into law nothing that will hurt the economy. Dan Lashop (from the Natural Resources Defense Center) said that the bill needs to be uniform. This would only effect big countries/economies, and will not used for China or India (that’s where some of the big problems (green house gas) comes from (burning coal). Another opposition point is that big companies will just buy more pollution credits and then pass the cost for these credits to the consumer. Swen is still uninformed about this Bill. I’ve heard about the concept, but now I’ve heard it’s being debated in the Senate. The last opposition that I’m going to cover is that it means “another government agency” to monitor pollution. Going to file this under the Tax Category, but will be adding more as information is learned.
