Hello. My name is Edgar and I'm an editor at OpposingViews.com, the debate website. Since we both cover energy and environmental issues, I thought I'd drop you a note. I would've e-mailed you but I couldn't find an address.
See, we're currently having a discussion about whether or not the U.S. should allow offshore oil drilling. You can see it here:
http://www.opposingviews.com/questions/should-the-us-allow-offshore-oil-drilling
Although vetted experts are the ones doing the debating, anyone can contribute by choosing a side and posting comments about the experts' arguments.
Check it out and, if you have the time, let me know what you think at eacosta@opposingviews.com
Thanks!

I agree that this is a good thing. I actualy believe that municipalities should even pay people to engage in such activities as a sign that they have the citisense best interest at heart.

I think it's good that they are trying to cap costs for renewable sources of energy, it should greatly help the green electricity movement!

That's a pretty cool site, I like all the pie charts. I need to take some time to study the chart. One thing that I did see that stood out like a sore thumb was how the percentage of oil has declined since the 1970s. Still, what about the quantity? Will study the energy statistic website, and will maybe leave another comment. Thanks for your comment.

I think you should see the World energy statistics, http://www.iea.org/textbase/nppdf/free/2007/key_stats_2007.pdf
Here you will see that the per capita carbon footprint is actually very less, that is why such high rise in percentage. The absolute increase is very low.
Look at the statistical graphs and notice that the asian co2 emissions are very low compared to any other group of countries, and india is only a part of it.

But please do not take away the notion that all is rosy good about india, if awareness is not spread, then we might be headed towards a greyer instead of greener tomorrow.

I know there is a mileage price trade off with eco-friendly cars but they are pretty expensive. I was thinking of getting an LPG gas conversation.

These things are uglier than sin, but other than that I think government needs to just get out of the way of these alternative energies, they can only muck it up.

Kudos to June for a well written article. Having built myself three years ago using alot of green material, I shutter when I hear that it is only 5 to 10 more. Absolutely not true. I am always wonder where those numbers come from.

I would have to agree it is more like 20% and depending what you are using it could be alot more. Pay backs also depend where you live. In the northeast, solar paybacks are longer than areas where it is sunny majority of the time.

Also, I can't agree more with the advice of caulk, caulk, caulk. However, houses need sufficient air changes, otherwise, your indoor air quality can be worse than outside. I have in my house whole house hepas/energy ventilation recovery systems which change the air in my house since I have a very tight house. Anna www.green-talk.com
